Childhood Asthma

Course Description

Asthma in children is a chronic inflammatory disease involving repeated attacks of wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing, and chest tightness, particularly at night and in the early morning, and dyspnea, which will either resolve without treatment or can be relieved or ameliorated by treatment. The pathophysiology of this condition is attributed to reversible airway narrowing, mediated by the mucosal and muscular layers of the airway, along with histological changes due to chronic airway inflammation and the possibility of other respiratory or cardiovascular diseases that are controlled primarily by the use of bronchodilators as needed.
