Ohio Law and Rules Series: On The Scope of Nursing Practice
The State of Ohio was given authority to protect its citizens under the police powers vested in the state by the Constitution of the United States. The Law for Ohio is called the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) consisting of over fifty volumes. Chapter 4723 of the Ohio Revised Code contains the laws regulating the practice of nursing. This chapter is also called the Nurse Practice Act. The Ohio Board of Nursing was established and is governed by the Ohio Revised Code. The Ohio Board of Nursing is authorized by law to enforce Chapter 4723. This independent study was prepared to inform nurses on their rights and responsibilities regarding the scope of nursing practice as defined by Ohio law and rules.
